Sosa Named Frontier League Pitcher of the Week

POMONA, NY - New York Boulders starting pitcher July Sosa has been named the Frontier League Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday. It is the first weekly honor for a Boulders player this season.
Sosa, who had not pitched since June 10 after leaving with an apparent injury, dazzled in his return to the mound Saturday against the Lake Erie Crushers. The right-hander tossed a complete game gem, striking out nine batters and not allowing an earned run in the 3-1 victory.
The Monroe College product has been spectacular for the Boulders this season, earning a 3-1 record to go with a 3.07 earned-run average and 37 strikeouts. New York has won five of the seven games started by Sosa, who set the franchise record for strikeouts in a game (12) earlier this season.
