Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
The Frontier League announced the rosters for the 2023 Frontier League All-Star Game on Monday morning and the Windy City ThunderBolts were represented with two selections. Pitchers Henry Omana and Garrett Christman were voted in by the league's general managers, managers, coaches and media.
Omana was the best pitcher in the Frontier League for the first month of the season. After five starts, he led the league in wins, innings, strikeouts and ERA. He was named Frontier League Pitcher of the Week on May 22. Although he has not been able to pitch recently due to injury, Omana still ranks ninth in the league with his 4-0 record. He's posted a 0.82 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 33 innings.
When Omana went down, Christman carried the torch as perhaps the league's best pitcher. In nine starts this year, he has a 4-2 record and ranks second in the league with a 1.96 ERA. Christman threw a complete game shutout at Lake Erie on June 11, which was part of a 28-inning streak in which he didn't allow an earned run. Since the start of June, his ERA is only 1.33.
This is the first Frontier League all-star selection for both Omana and Christman and they will get to be recognized in front of their home fans as Ozinga Field plays host to the All-Star Game for the first time since 2001.
The Skills Competition and Home Run Derby will take place on Tuesday, July 11 at 6:30. Fans will be invited on to the field to play catch and get autographs from the Frontier League all-stars afterwards. The All-Star Game follows on Wednesday, July 12 at 6:30 and will feature a special appearance from the ZOOperstars as well as a postgame fireworks display.
