Orlando Solar Bears News Release

Orlando, FL - G Maxime Clermont turned aside all 31 shots he faced in the game to help the Solar Bears earn a point in a 1-0 shootout loss to the Reading Royals at the Amway Center on Saturday night.

A fast-paced game at the Amway Center saw the Solar Bears and Royals trade chances in the opening period. Reading had a great scoring chance midway through the frame when a puck bounced through the goal crease, but the shot caught the goalpost to keep the game locked in a scoreless tie.

The second period saw the same back-and-forth action as the goaltenders for each team continued their stellar play. With the Solar Bears on the power play, the Royals earned a 2-on-0 rush into the attacking zone by Clermont denied the bid from F Kyle Walrod and the two sides went tied 0-0 into the third.

Orlando applied early pressure in the third period, but could not solve G Brandon Anderson despite 11 shots on goal during the frame. A scoreless overtime period saw F Ryan Cruthers, F Josh Brittain, and forward T.J. Syner score for the Royals n the shootout while F Wade MacLeod potted the lone shootout goal for the Solar Bears. Clermont was credited with his first shutout as a Solar Bear, stopping 31 shots in regulation or overtime to secure a point for Orlando.
