The Jackals are facing the Gladiators tonight for the third of three meetings this season and the second of two at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Elmira has a 9-6-1 all-time ECHL record against Gwinnett, including a 5-3-0 record on the road. Wednesday's game here was the first time the teams met in Gwinnett since Nov. 3, 2012. Last year's 3-1 loss gave the Jackals three consecutive defeats here over the span of two years. Before Wednesday the Jackals' most recent win in Gwinnett was an 11-3 win in November of 2009. The only meeting this season came on March 17 at First Arena. The season series between the Jackals and Glads is tied at a game each. Despite not seeing each other often, the all-time series has been filled with tight affairs. Ten of the 16 meetings have been decided by two goals or less.
The Jackals are the northernmost team in the Atlantic Division (second in the Conference behind Kalamazoo) but they have spent a lot of time below the Mason-Dixon line this season. This week's three-game slate to close out the regular season is the Jackals' third trip to the South Division in 13-14. This is the first season since joining the ECHL in 2007 that the Jackals have made more than two trips to the South Division and their nine games against the South are the most in a single season. They are 2-6-0 on the road against the South so far.
