Orlando Solar Bears News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, announced today that the team has added defenseman Carl Nielsen to its roster, while forward Ludwig Karlsson has been traded to the Colorado Eagles.

Nielsen, 27, skated in 58 games with the Solar Bears during the 2014-15 season, recording 10 points (3g-7a) and leading the team with 134 penalty minutes and a plus-minus rating of +19. He was also recognized as the recipient of the Kevin L. Heller Sr. Memorial Award as the team's "Unsung Hero."

Karlsson, 24, had originally agreed to terms with Orlando in August, but had yet to dress in a game with the Solar Bears during the 2015-16 regular season.

The Solar Bears continue their fourth season in the ECHL, presented by Auto Justice Attorney Michael T. Gibson, P.A. at home on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Amway Center against the Florida Everblades, when the Solar Bears will host Epilepsy Awareness Night and Teacher Appreciation Weekend. The first 3,000 fans in attendance that night will also receive a free poster commemorating 10 seasons of Solar Bears hockey in Orlando.
