October 26, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release
The Adirondack Thunder have ridden a high-flying offense to a 4-0-0 start and the top of the Eastern Conference standings through two weekends. Adirondack won three games in three days in three different cities last weekend, outscoring its opponents 14-8 in the process.
Adirondack began last week with a 5-4 overtime win at Brampton on Friday. Rob Bordson led the way offensively with three points (2g-1a), including the game-winning tally 58 seconds into overtime, while Kyle Flanagan and Ryan Constant both added a pair of assists.
The Thunder returned home on Saturday for their home opener and skated away with a 4-2 victory over Manchester. Bordson had another three-point effort with a goal and two assists and Louick Marcotte chipped in with two points (1g-1a) of his own. Ken Appleby earned his third straight win in net turning aside 37 Monarchs' shots.
Adirondack closed out the weekend with a 5-2 win at Manchester on Sunday. Marcotte scored a pair of goals to continue his hot start in his first pro season and Kent Simpson made 37 saves on 39 shots to record the win in his first appearance with the Thunder.
The Thunder rank second in the league with 4.50 goals per game while checking in fifth with 2.25 goals-against per game. Special teams have also been key to Adirondack's start as the club leads the league on both the power play (6-for-15, 40.0 percent) and penalty kill (14-for-15, 93.3 percent).
Marcotte leads all ECHL rookies with five goals and seven points through four games. His five goals are tied for second overall in the league and he is tied for sixth with seven points. Bordson also checks in with seven points (3g-4a) and Flanagan is tied for second with three power-play assists.
Adirondack hosts fellow unbeaten Orlando, which is 3-0-0, in an early-season showdown for Eastern Conference supremacy on Wednesday before opening a seven-game road trip at Wheeling on Friday.
