BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, defeated the Providence Bruins 4-1 at home Saturday with Rob Collins setting a new franchise scoring record and veteran goaltender Garth Snow making 29 saves for the win. Snow joined the Sound Tigers on a conditioning assignment from the Islanders earlier in the day.

"Coming back from injury, it was important for me to control my rebounds and have a good game," Snow said. "I am just thankful to get the chance to play in front of a great group of guys here in Bridgeport."

The Sound Tigers jumped out to the 1-0 lead 15:27 into the game when Bruno Gervais wristed a shot past Providence Bruins goaltender Jordan Sigalet for his 16th tally of the year on the power play, with Allan Rourke and Rob Collins picking up the assists. The assist was Collins' 137th point with the Sound Tigers breaking the all-time mark that was originally set by Trent Hunter from 2001 through 2003.

Robert Nilsson doubled the Sound Tigers' lead to 2-0 at 9:51 of the second frame when he blasted home a slap-shot for his seventh goal of the year off assists from Vince Macri and Evgeny Tunik.

Providence was finally able to light the lamp at 3:08 of the third period when Tyler Redenbach cut the lead to 2-1 with his 13th goal of the season, an unassisted, power-play marker. However, the Sound Tigers roared right back 40 seconds later when Collins added to his historic night by sniping his 13th goal of the season and 138th career point with the team from a tough angle off feeds from Jeff Hamilton and Steve Regier to up the lead 3-1.

The Sound Tigers then iced the win with 2:46 remaining in the game when Matt Koalska scored his 13th of the year on the power play with assists from Masi Marjamaki and Rourke for a final of 4-1.

Collins was the first star of the game with his record-breaking two points. Gervais was the second star. Snow was the third star. The Sound Tigers were 2 for 11 on the power play and had a 38-30 shots on goal advantage. The P-Bruins were 1 for 5 on the power play with Sigalet making 34 saves in a losing effort.

Following the game, the Sound Tigers announced the release of goaltender Cody Rudkowsky from his professional tryout contract.

The Sound Tigers will return to action when they host the Lowell Lock Monsters this coming Friday, February 10th at 7:35 p.m. All Sound Tigers games are web-cast live at www.soundtigers.com.
