Norfolk Admirals News Release

In a penalty-filled contest, the Admirals fell to Binghamton 2-1 at Scope.

Norfolk only had one shot through ten minutes of play due to multiple penalty kills. Toward the end of the period, several calls went in favor of the Admirals, leading to an extended two-man advantage. Shawn Thornton received the puck at the point on the ensuing power play and ripped a slap shot that was deflected past Binghamton backstop Billy Thompson with 1:02 remaining in the period. The Admirals took a 1-0 lead into the first break.

Binghamton tied the game midway through the second stanza, as Denis Hamel's one-timer from the top of the right circle eluded Corey Crawford for a four-on-three power play goal at 8:36. Brandon Bochenski gave the Senators the lead as he scored off a Jeff Heerema feed on a five-on-three power play at 17:32. Norfolk trailed 2-1 after 40 minutes.

Despite having several scoring chances in the final frame, the Admirals were unable to get the equalizer past Billy Thompson, as the Senators held on to win 2-1.

Corey Crawford picked up the loss and stopped 20 of 22 shots. Billy Thompson made 22 saves on 23 Admirals' shots and earned the victory for Binghamton.

Norfolk was 1-13 on the power play while Binghamton 2-11.
