San Antonio Rampage News Release

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- One late goal and 41 saves for Karl Goehring keeps the Rampage alive but unable to pull through in the shootout, falling to the Toronto Marlies 2-1 Saturday Night at Ricoh Coliseum. The Rampage continue their 10-game road trip finishing their second game tonight with back-to-back shootout losses.

Brad Leeb got things rolling quickly for Toronto as he tallied his 22nd goal of the season 3:30 into the opening period to give the Marlies a 1-0 lead. Leeb's power-play goal was assisted by John Pohl and Brendan Bell.

The game remained stagnant until Randall Gelech collected his 6th goal of the season at the 4:06 mark in the closing period which was enough to carry the game to overtime and eventually a shootout. Mike Bishai helped Gelech get his first goal since December 16th to tie the score at 1-1.

Goehring had 35 saves through regulation and was awarded first star as Marlies goaltender Jean-Francois Racine was awarded second star with 29 saves through 65 minutes of play.

Bishai, Layne Ulmer, Jeff Taffe and Eric Chouinard all came up short in the shootout for the Rampage. Pohl and Colin Murphy were able to get shots by Goehring to get the win for the Toronto Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate.

The Rampage (14-28-1-4) continue their road trip against the Manchester Moonarchs Wednesday at 6:05 p.m.
