
Rivermen Set February Community Appearances

Peoria, IL - Director of Community Relations Angie Sammons of the Peoria Rivermen, the proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, today announced details of the Rivermen community appearance schedule for the month of February.
The first full week of the month will feature three community appearances by members of the Rivermen. On Monday, February 6, three Rivermen players will receive fans and sign autographs from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Steger's Furniture on Court Street in Pekin. On Wednesday, February 8, Rivermen forwards Brendan Brooks, D. J. King, and Ryan Ramsay and defensemen Aaron MacKenzie and Mike Stuart will join patients at the Children's Hospital of Illinois at 2:30 p.m. for a special pizza party and Valentines-making session. Three other members of the team will be on hand for "Family Reading Night" at the Westview School in Canton from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 9.
Four more community appearances are on the docket for the following week. On Valentine's Day, three members of the team will visit the Kingman Primary School in Peoria to read to students and to demonstrate the use of hockey equipment from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Another group of three Rivermen will receive fans and sign autographs from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, at the Arby's restaurant on River Road in East Peoria.
The Rivermen have scheduled two community appearances for Thursday, February 16. At 2:00 p.m. that day, two Rivermen skaters and the Rivermen mascot "The Captain" will appear at the MidAmerica National Bank in downtown Peoria. This special event will also feature door prizes including an autographed Rivermen jersey. That evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., three Rivermen players will receive fans and sign autographs at the Casey's General Store location in Creve Coeur.
The week of Monday, February 20, will include two Rivermen community appearances, both on Thursday, February 23. At 1:30 p.m. on that afternoon, four Rivermen will visit the children involved in the Head Start preschool program at the Pekin Family Education Center. From 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. that evening, three other members of the club will appear at the UFS location on Southwest Adams Street in Peoria to greet fans and to sign autographs.
The final Rivermen community appearance of the month of February will be the annual Peoria Rivermen Booster Club "Bowl-a-thon" from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28. All Rivermen players and coaches will be on hand that day at Landmark Lanes on Dries Lane in Peoria to raise funds for the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
