Beloit Sky Carp News Release

The Beloit Snappers continued their recent skid as they lost their third straight, this time to the South Bend Silver Hawks. The Snappers chalked up five hits but were unable to muster any runs as they lost 3-0.

The Eastern Division leading Silver Hawks were beneficiaries of three Beloit errors and the Snappers going 0-4 at the plate with runners in scoring position.

In the fifth inning, Beloit starter David Bromberg racked up two quick strikeouts. Before he could find the third out, South Bend plated a run with the help of a hit by pitch, walk, and a fielding error by the Snappers second baseman, Jeanfred Brito.

Bromberg held the score at 1-0 until the seventh when two Silver Hawk singles combined with a Mark Dolenc fielding error to plate another run.

The final South Bend run came in the following inning when Chance Wheeless homered off of Snapper reliever Mike Allen. Chance's homer put the Silver Hawks up 3-0 after eight innings.

The five Snapper hits were scattered between five different players. Juan Richardson, Yangervis Solarte, Andrew Schmiesing and Estarlin De Los Santos all had a single for Beloit in the loss. Center fielder Ben Revere went 1-4 with a double.

Despite the loss, Beloit starter David Bromberg pitched outstanding. He fanned six Silver Hawks in seven innings while only giving up four hits and two unearned runs. The loss drops his record to 6-7 and drops Beloit's second half record to 17-14.
