Snappers Raise Money for Flood Victims

July 23, 2008 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Earlier this month the Snappers reached out to help the flood victims both locally and nationally. During their July 3rd game against the Clinton LumberKings, the Snappers donated 50 cents for every ticket sold and also cash donations received from fans to the flood victims, resulting in a total of $1,334.10. Half of that went to Minor League Baseball Charities (Flood Relief Fund) and the other half went to the Stateline United Way (Flood Relief Fund).

Minor League Baseball headed up the relief effort in Iowa by donating $50,000 themselves to get the fund kicked off. They also have requested that teams around the country consider donating a portion of their ticket sales to help out the cause. The teams affected by the flooding in Iowa include the Burlington Bees, Cedar Rapids Kernels, Quad Cities River Bandits and Iowa Cubbies.

The Stateline United Way has also set up a flood recovery fund for long-term assistance to help out those affected right here in the stateline area. For more information on how you can lend a helping hand, contact the Stateline United Way at 608-365-4451.

For ticket information contact a Snappers representative at 608-362-2272 or 1-888-SNAP-2-IT. You can also purchase tickets online at www.snappersbaseball.com or stop by Pohlman Field located at 2301 Skyline Drive in Beloit.
