Burlington Bees News Release
Burlington, IA (July 23, 2008) - Your Burlington Bees, the City of Burlington, and Minor League Baseball have partnered together to offer two nights of free general admission tickets to anyone affected by the floods in Southeast Iowa and Western Illinois. The events will take place on Tuesday, July 29th and Wednesday, July 30th when the Bees take on the Dayton Dragons at 7:00.
To help raise money for the flood victims in the area, there will be a silent auction both nights. Items that will be auctioned off include Ryne Sandberg autographed bat and jersey, George Brett, Alex Gordon, and Zach Greinke autographed balls, David DeJesus, Mark Teahan, and Miguel Olivo autographed bats, St. Louis Cardinals merchandise, and autographed Bees' bats and balls.
The Bees players and coaches will also be wearing special jerseys for the two nights. The jerseys will be available for purchase via a silent auction that is sponsored by Edward Jones of Burlington, Mt. Pleasant, and Ft. Madison. Bidding for the jerseys will close around the 7th inning of Wednesday's game. Each player and coach will then autograph their jersey before giving it to the winning bidder. "The flooding this summer has affected everyone in southeast Iowa and western Illinois in some way," says Bees' General Manager Chuck Brockett. "When we started talking with the City of Burlington and Minor League Baseball, we wanted to come up with a way that flood victims could come out and enjoy a few games, while at the same time, raise money for those that are in need."
