Beloit Sky Carp News Release

The defending Midwest League Western Division Champs were only able to muster three hits as they dropped the first game of a three-game set with the South Bend Silver Hawks, 7-1. Beloit's Brian Kirwan picked up his first loss of the season, going 4.1 innings and allowing seven runs (five earned) off eight hits.

The Snappers fell behind early when the Silver Hawks notched one run in the top of the third and then three more in the top of the fourth. The Arizona Diamondbacks class low A affiliate took a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.

Beloit showed some signs of life in the bottom of the fourth behind the bat of Steve Singleton. Steve delivered a two-out, RBI-triple to right to put the Snappers on the board. Singleton's RBI drove home Chris Parmelee, who was hit by a pitch earlier, from first base.

That would be all the runs the Snaps would score, however, as they went on to lose by a final of 7-1.

The newest Snapper, Ben Revere, went 0 for 3 with a walk in his debut.
