Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
The fifth annual Corridor Classic, presented by Cedar Rapids Toyota-Scion, is just two days away. The game features the UNI Panthers against the Iowa Hawkeyes at Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium and the forecast is warm - on the field and in the stands.
UNI is currently 11-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference and 25-14 overall, tied with Wichita State for the league lead while Iowa is 16-25 overall and tied for eighth in the Big Ten Conference and looking to make a push towards the Big Ten tournament at the end of May.
Wednesday's weather forecast looks good too, with temperatures headed towards the high 60's, which should make for a comfortable night of college baseball.
The night is full of fun and entertainment, as prior to the game, 15 people will take part in the Kiss A Pig promotion, to benefit the American Diabetes Association. There will also be a raffle during the game, with all proceeds from Kiss A Pig and the raffle to benefit the ADA.
And, what would a big night be without celebrities? Tyler Mulder, UNI's national indoor 800 champion, and Tom Brands, the head coach of Iowa's NCAA champion wrestling team, will throw out a first pitch prior to the game.
Game time is 6:30 pm, with the gates opening at 5:00 pm. Iowa is the home team and will occupy the third base dugout with UNI on the first base side.
Tickets for the Corridor Classic are on sale now at the Kernels Ticket Office. Ticket prices range from $6 to $9 and can be ordered by calling the Ticket Office at 896-7560 or in person. Ticket Office hours are 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
