Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT - Fans lucky enough to be at ABC Supply Stadium picked the perfect way to kick off a holiday weekend.
Under beautiful sunny skies that eventually turned into a cool but comfortable night, the fans witnessed the Beloit Sky Carp record a doubleheader sweep over visiting Lansing, then sat back and watched a fantastic fireworks show to begin Memorial Day weekend.
The Sky Carp took game one 5-1 before bringing home a 3-0 victory in the nightcap.
Game one was all Beloit, all the time. Under bright, sunny skies an early-arriving crowd, the Sky Carp scored a run in the third and four more in the fourth behind starting pitcher Dax Fulton.
Fulton was outstanding, allowing just a single run in five innings, walking just one while striking out seven. Both Nasim Nunez and Dalvy Rosario cracked six hits for the Sky Carp.
In the nightcap, it was Evan Fitterer's turn to befuddle the Lugnuts. Fitterer pitched a career-best six innings while allowing just two hits.
Will Banfield delivered the big blow offensively, crushing a two-run home run to left field in a three-run third inning.
The Sky Carp will go for their fifth straight victory Saturday when the two teams meet again, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Gates will be open at 5:30, and the first 1,000 fans will receive a Sky Carp bucket hat, sponsored by G5 Brewing.
