The 2006-2007 US and WHL Regular Season Champions, Everett Silvertips selected goaltender Kent Simpson in the 1st Round (22nd Overall) of the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft held in Calgary, AB on Thursday.

Simpson posted a 13-6-1 record with the Edmonton South Side Athletic Club during the 2006-2007 season. The Edmonton, AB native played in 30 games and recorded a 3.43 Goals Against Average and a .901% Save Percentage last season. The 6'1, 175 pound goaltender also logged 1120 minutes.

"He is a big, solid and a very competitive goaltender," mentions Silvertips Director of Player Personnel and Head Scout, Scott Scoville. "He makes big saves in big situations and reminds us of a young Leland Irving, because of his focus. He is very fundamentally sound netminder and is mentally strong as well. We are pleased to welcome Kent to the Silvertips organization."
