Warriors Move Up; Take Manitoban

Calgary, Alberta -- The Moose Jaw Warriors engineered a last minute deal with the Portland Winter Hawks Thursday morning, moving up from fifth to first and with the pick opted for highly touted center Quinton Howden of teh Springfield Bantam AA Ice Hawks.

In order to get the first overall pick, the Warriors exchanged first round picks with Portland as well as giving up their second round choice (28th overall), their fifth round choice and 16-year old prospect Michael Burns.

As well, Moose Jaw received Portland's third round selection.

The Kelowna Rockets, with the second pick overall, opted for center Luke Moffatt from Phoenix.

The Brandon Wheat Kings will have the 17th overall in round one.
