30 Manitobans Chosen In Bantam Draft

Calgary, Alberta - Thanks to a last minute trade involving Moose Jaw and Portland, the Warriors chosen highly touted left-winger Quinton Howden of the Springfield Ice Hawks with the first overall selection in the 2007 Western Hockey League Bantam draft. Howden was the first of two Winnipeggers to go in the top four and one of thirty Manitobans to be chosen in Thursday's proceedings. With the fourth overall pick, Saskatoon chose center Charles Inglis of the Winnipeg bantam AAA Sharks.

The Brandon Wheat Kings meanwhile took a total of five players from Manitoba including third round pick Jordan DePape of the Winnipeg bantam Warriors. A younger brother to Prince Albert's Ryan, DePape scored 36 goals and 54 points in thirty games this past season.
