Calgary Hitmen News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is pleased to announce the selection of Austin Madaisky (Ma-DAY-ski) with the 14th overall pick in the 2007 WHL Bantam draft.

Madaisky is a 15-year-old defenceman from Surrey, British Columbia. Madaisky won a Western Canadian Bantam Championship this season with the Burnaby Winter Club Bruins. The 6'1" 165-pound rearguard also played in the BC Cup, an Under-16 Program which is used to identify players for regional, provincial and national teams.

"Austin is a big two-way defenceman who sees the ice well," said Hitmen Head Scout Brad Whelen. "We feel he's going to be an excellent prospect and down the line will play in our top four for sure."

The Bantam draft continues at the Round-Up Center in Calgary. Follow it live at www.whl.ca.
