Vancouver Giants News Release

With their first pick in the 2007 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft, the Vancouver Giants have selected MITCH SPOONER from Port Moody, British Columbia. Spooner was selected by the Giants in the 1st Round (19th overall).

The 6'0", 170lbs right defenceman played AAA Bantam in the lower mainland this season and is currently attending the Pacific Rim Hockey Academy in Pitt Meadows.

"We are really excited to select Mitch as the success our club has experienced over the past few seasons comes from a solid defence corps," says Giants General Manager Scott Bonner. "Mitch will be a big piece to ensure this continues for the Giants in the future."

The 2007 WHL Bantam Draft continues today in Calgary, Alberta. For a complete list of players taken in the draft, check out www.whl.ca.
