Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - A bases-loaded, two-strike double off the bat of Chris Sharpe in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Indianapolis Indians to a comeback win over the St. Paul Saints on Saturday night, 7-4.

Tied 4-4 after seven innings, an error and walk helped load the bases with one out for Sharpe. On a 1-2 count, the Indians outfielder roped a line drive down the left-field line to clear the bases and put his team up for the win.

Two home runs put the Saints (47-41) on top early, but their scoring halted at four runs. Tomas Telis launched a two-out solo shot in the first inning, and with no outs in the third Nick Gordon scored three with a long ball of his own.

The Indians (43-45) put up four runs in the seventh inning to tie the game. With no outs and two runners on, Christian Bethancourt sent a fly ball out to the deepest part of the ballpark for his first triple in affiliated ball since 2014. Phillip Evans then followed up with a two-run double to knot the score at 4-4.

After Beau Sulser surrendered four runs on four hits through three innings, he allowed just one more hit until the seventh inning. Tanner Anderson (W, 2-1) and Keury Mella (S, 2) shut down the Saints offense with 2.2 perfect innings of work.

Ian Hamilton (L, 3-2) surrendered the long double to Sharpe to give Indianapolis the win.

The Indians and Saints will face off in the series finale tomorrow at 1:35 PM ET. In a rematch of Game 1, RHP Max Kranick (1-2, 5.74) will face off against LHP Andrew Albers (5-4, 4.23).
