Wild Pitch seals deal for RailRiders

(Moosic, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (40-46) saw the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (51-33) win on a wild pitch on Saturday night. Cam Bedrosian (1-2) saw Greg Allen score on the wild pitch to give the RailRiders a 6-5 win.

IronPigs pitcher Austin Ross made his first career AAA start on Saturday after right-hander Adonis Medina was promoted to Philadelphia. He pitched just one inning and allowed a run as Allen scored on a fielder's choice that gave Scranton/Wilkes-Barre a 1-0 lead. The RailRiders scored a run in the bottom of the second inning when Kyle Holder scored on a wild pitch by Julian Garcia.

The IronPigs scored three runs against JP Sears in the top of the fourth inning as T.J. Rivera hit a three-run home run. The homerun gave Lehigh Valley a 3-2 lead. The lead didn't last long as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead. Chris Gittens hit a three-run home run against Garcia, his eighth of the season.

Lehigh Valley scored a run in the top of the seventh inning against Kevin Gadea as Sal Gozzo scored on a throwing error by Gittens. Matt Vierling tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the eighth inning when he homered against Nick Green.

Greg Weissert (3-1) earned the win for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as he pitched two scoreless innings in relief. He recorded two strikeouts.

The IronPigs and RailRiders wrap up their series on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
