Louisville Bats News Release

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Jose Barrero forced extras with a blooped RBI single in the bottom of the seventh, Alfredo Rodriguez plated the winning run on a comebacker with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th and the Louisville Bats walked off the Nashville Sounds 7-6 Saturday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

The contest was a see-saw affair throughout the night, beginning with Louisville answering a three-run top of the first with a three-run bomb from TJ Friedl that drew the two teams even. Friedl has now collected 22 hits in the season series with the Sounds, marking his most hits against any opponent he's faced during his Minor League career.

Max Schrock went deep one frame later to score Barrero and put the Bats up 5-3.

The contest held until the sixth, when the Sounds rallied back from the two-run deficit on a solo shot from University of Louisville alumni Corey Ray and back-to-back run-scoring doubles from Brice Turang and Zach Green.

As the game reached its waning stages, Barrero kept the Bats alive when he poked a single over the right side of the infield to score Narcisso Crook and force extra innings.

Louisville reliever Dauri Moreta followed with 2.0 scoreless frames and three strikeouts before Rodriguez slapped a ball just deep enough up the middle to allow Schrock to score from third and gives the Bats the walkoff win.

Louisville secured a series victory with tonight's final and has now won seven of the last eight games against the Sounds.

The two teams will cap their series Sunday at 1 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Field. LHP Reiver Sanmartin (3-1, 3.69) will get the ball for the Bats against RHP Colin Rea (NR).
