Tonight's Matchup: The San Francisco Bulls (21-29-1-6) hit the last city on their six-game road trip when they take on the Las Vegas Wranglers (28-23-2-3), tonight, at Orleans Arena. This is the fourth of six meetings between the two clubs, with the season series standing at 1-1-1-0.
This past Wednesday the Bulls came away with an exciting 5-4 shootout win over the Colorado Eagles. San Francisco was down a goal four different times, only to fight back and tie it up each time. Through two periods the Bulls had received a goal from Bryan Cameron, an unassisted shorthanded goal from Christian Ouellet, and a tally from Simon Danis-Pepin. Yanni Gourde, Scott Langdon, and Dean Ouellet (2) all collected assists. Entering the third, the score sat at 3-3. Colorado took a 4-3 lead seven minutes into the period, before Peter Sivak scored a late equalizer from Jordan Morrison to force extra time. After a scoreless overtime, Dean Ouellet notched a shootout goal, and goalie Thomas Heemskerk blanked the Eagles through five rounds to come away with a gutsy win. The Eagles held the edge in shots, 39-33.
With the victory the Bulls have split the first four games of this road trip, and will look to carry their momentum into Las Vegas. They will be riding the hot hands of D. Ouellet and Sivak. With his two helpers on Wednesday, Ouellet now has a three-game point streak. He leads the team in assists (25) and points (49). Sivak notched his team-leading 27th goal, his sixth in the past 10 games.
The new faces are also quickly making their presence felt. Gourde notched his second assist in as many games, and Cameron chipped in his second goal in a Bulls uniform.
The Las Vegas Wranglers sit in fifth place in the Western Conference with 61 points. They are six points behind the Stockton Thunder and are two points ahead of the Colorado Eagles. The San Francisco Bulls are in eighth place in the Western Conference with 49 points, four points behind the Utah Grizzlies. They maintained their eight-point lead on the Bakersfield Condors, who lost in Alaska last night. The Bulls have 15 games remaining to the Condors' 12.
The Bulls will be back in action for a matinee game on Sunday at 2:05 against these same Las Vegas Wranglers to wrap up this six game road trip. They return home next Wednesday, March 6, to take on the Alaska Aces.
