South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that defenseman Kevin Quick has returned to the team from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League (AHL). In a separate transaction, the Stingrays traded forward Ryan Hayes to the Stockton Thunder in exchange for future considerations.
Quick, 24, appeared in three games with the IceHogs adding no points. In 52 games with the Stingrays the season, the Buffalo, New York, native scored one goal and 12 assists for 13 points. Last season, Quick helped the Florida Everblades (ECHL) capture their first Kelly Cup Championship dressing in 34 regular-season contests earning 10 assists and 16 postseason games netting a goal and three assists for four points. A third-round (78th overall) draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2006, Quick skated in 173 games over three seasons with their AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals, registering 34 points (one goal, 33 assists). On January 13, 2009, he made his NHL debut with the Lightning and skated in six total contests earning one assist.
Hayes, 23, played in 16 games with the Stingrays netting six goals and five assists for 11 points. The Syracuse, New York, native joined the Stingrays in a trade with the Trenton Titans earlier this season.
