
Road Warriors Hound Jackals in 4-3 Victory

Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors relentless attack paved the way in a shootout victory by a score a 4-3.
Elmira started the game off with a bang. Jordan Pietrus gave a quick pass to Rob Bellamy who fired a one-timer past Scott Stajcer's right pad to put the Jackals up 1-0 just 1:15 into the game. The period featured a scramble with Ryan Palmer and T.J. Reynolds, who was also issued a 10 minute misconduct. Elmira controlled the period and outshot the Road Warriors 17-13. Kevin Harvey closed the period with a goal to put Elmira up 2-0. The goal came with just 25 seconds left.
Jordie Johnston began a great second period for the Road Warriors that lead to three consecutive goals. Johnston scored his 16th of the year on a spin-around shot that brought the game to a 3-1 score. This goal occurred just 2:42 into the period. A few moments later Brandon Wong scored on his own rebound to tie the game at two. The Road Warriors kept coming and after a disallowed goal, Zach Cohen knocked in a loose puck to put Greenville on top 3-2. Cohen scored his seventh of the year on the play.
The third period continued to bring more physicality and scoring opportunities. The Road Warriors lead would hold until 18 seconds left as Bellamy scored his second of the game jamming in a loose puck.
The overtime period was uneventful but the Jackals drew a power play in overtime. Elmira was not able to capitalize and Greenville outshot Elmira 1-0. Shootouts then ensued.
During the first five rounds, Danny Hobbs and Kyle Bushee scored. Tyler Fernandez scored the shootout winner in the eighth round and Scott Stajcer saved seven of eight. Stajcer won his ninth game of the year saving 37 shots. Ian Keserich took the loss stopping 33 of 36 shots.
The Road Warriors continue their three game series against the Jackals tomorrow at 7 p.m. The first 1,000 fans 12 and under receive a blue Road Warriors replica jersey presented by B93.7, Pepsi, Magic 98.9 and Fox Carolina. The final game of the series takes place on Sunday which is Family Fun Day. Fans can present their BI-LO Bonuscard at the box office and receive up to FOUR FREE TICKETS in the family fun section while supplies last.
