
Beauchemin Named MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J.- Former ECHL and current Anaheim Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin is The MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for February.
The leading distributor of game- worn hockey jerseys and "Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL," MeiGray sold more than 500 game-worn jerseys in 2011-12 and has sold more than 6,500 since it became "The Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL" in 2002-03.
The 32-year-old scored 12 points (1g-11a) and was a +11 in 13 games with the Ducks during the month. Beauchemin tallied two assists in a 6-5 shootout win at St. Louis on Feb. 9 and had four assists in a 4-3 overtime win against Colorado on Feb. 24. Twice during the month he posted a +3 rating - Feb. 9 at St. Louis and Feb. 15 at Detroit.
Beauchemin has 13 points (2g-11a) in 18 games with the Ducks this season, and is second in the National Hockey League in plus-minus at +13. He has recorded 168 points (41g-127a) in 509 career NHL games with Anaheim, Toronto, Columbus and Montreal. He has added 20 points (8g-12a) in 61 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, and won the Stanley Cup with the Ducks in 2007.
A native of Sorel Quebec, Beauchemin appeared in seven games with the Mississippi Sea Wolves in 2001-02, tallying four points (1g-3a). He has also appeared in 336 games in the American Hockey League with Quebec, Hamilton and Syracuse, where he had 122 points (30g-92a).
There have been 502 players who have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL including 12 who have made their debut in 2012-13. The ECHL has had 310 players reach the NHL since 2002-03 when it changed its focus to become the primary developmental league for the NHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 97 players reach the NHL in its first 10 seasons and 215 in the first 15 years. There have been 246 ECHL players who have played their first game in the last eight seasons for an average of more than 30 per year.
