Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL today announced the details of the Miracles of March Skills Competition presented by I-105 WIOV and CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm. The brand new event, which will feature the Royals players and standouts from local youth hockey organizations displaying their skills in an afternoon of fun competition, will be held on Sunday, March 17, from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. The Miracles of March Skills Competition, which will transform the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania, into a carnival-like atmosphere, will benefit the Children's Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
The wives and girlfriends of the Royals players will get the concourse carnival cornucopia rolling promptly at 1:00 pm. The party will have a little bit of something for everyone, including a magician, face-painting, arts and crafts booths, balloon art, and performances by area singers and musicians and various games for young and old. The organization will also hold open auditions to sing the National Anthem at an upcoming Royals game. There will also be a silent auction for a wide-ranging treasure trove of memorabilia, in addition to raffles for great gift certificates from Royals' sponsor establishments.
The competitive element of the Miracles of March Skills Competition, which will kick off at 3:00 pm, will include all of the fan favorites of traditional all-star skill competitions including the fastest skater, most accurate shot, the hardest shot, stick-handling relay races and penalty shot showdowns between the 'kids' and the 'pros'.
Tickets to the Miracles of March Skills Competition are $15 and can be purchased through the Royals by calling 610-898-7825 or by visiting www.royalshockeyevents.com/royals-skills. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales, as well as funds raised from the various games, auctions and raffles will go directly to the Children's Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
The Royals finish a three game road trip in Florida on Saturday (March 2 @ 7:05pm) when the team will take on the Orlando Solar Bears at Amway Center in Orlando. The game day broadcast will kick off on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm at 6:30 pm with the Pre-Game Warm-Up Show presented by Steve Moyer Subaru. As with all Royals road games, Saturday's game will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV courtesy of Boscov's Travel and Apple Vacations. Royals multi-game flex plans for the Royals 2012-13 season presented by Steve Moyer Subaru are currently available. Get more information at www.royalshockey.com.
