Sens Throttled by the Curve 3-1

Harrisburg Senators News Release


The Senators (42-28) and Altoona Curve (35-32) played the final game of the first half with the Curve winning 3-1. Altoona scored single runs in each of the first three innings and made those runs stand up. The Sens held Altoona to 0-for-14 with runners in scoring position but didn't put together any offense of their own. Tyler Mapes doubled in the lone Senators run.

Turning Point

The Sens trailed 2-0 into the top of the sixth inning but put the first two on base. However, Luis Sardinas flied out to center field and Chuck Taylor bounced into an inning-ending twin killing. The Sens just two more runners on base the rest of the game.

On Capitol Hill

- Tyler Mapes started for the first time since coming off the IL and went five innings allowing six hits and three runs. He threw 76 pitches, 50 strikes, struck out two and walked two.

- Jordan Mills tossed 1.2 innings allowing two hits but no runs and Ronald Pena retired all four batters he faced including two via the strike out.

With the Gavel

- Tyler Mapes doubled in the lone Senators run in the third inning.

- Harrisburg had just four hits total, three singles to go along with Mapes double.

Filibusters

The Senators finished the first half 42-28 and 5.5 games ahead of Altoona.

With a win tomorrow night, the Sens can win their second straight road series.

Harrisburg is 1-1 during a stretch of 27 consecutive games against Western Division opponents.

The final game of the series between the Senators and Altoona Curve is Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Harrisburg 96.5FM 95.3FM and 1400AM beginning at 6:20 p.m.
