New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH - Josh Palacios had three hits and scored twice, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) fell to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (New York Mets) 6-3 on Tuesday at Delta Dental Stadium, completing the first half of the Eastern League season with a record of 31-36.
Palacios singled and scored on a double by Riley Adams in the bottom of the first to stake New Hampshire to a 1-0 lead. Palacios doubled in the sixth and scored on a groundout by Brock Lundquist. Christian Williams hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning for the game's final run.
Binghamton, who finished the first half of the season at 34-29, erased the early deficit with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning. Patrick Mazeika knocked in three runs on the night for the Rumble Ponies, including one on a groundout in the third that tied the game at 1-1. Barrett Barnes followed with an RBI single off starter and losing pitcher Hector Perez (L, 4-3) to give Binghamton a lead it would not rescind.
Mazeika stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth and Will Toffey homered off the left field foul pole to open up a 5-1 lead for Binghamton. Mazeika added a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning.
Binghamton received seven innings from southpaw David Peterson (W, 3-2) in a winning effort. He allowed two runs on nine hits and had six strikeouts. Adonis Uceta worked the final two innings for the Rumble Ponies.
