Fort Wayne, IN - The second half promotions for the Fort Wayne Wizards started today when right-handed pitcher Luke Steidlmayer was sent to the Lake Elsinore Storm of the California League.
Steidlmayer was a member of the 2005 Midwest League's Eastern Division All-Star team after a strong first half for the Wizards. Splitting time between the bullpen and the starting rotation, Steidlmayer was 7-2 with a 2.28 earned run average in 16 games (eight starts). He allowed 46 hits and 21 walks, while striking out 53 in 59 1/3 innings. Opponents were hitting .212 against Steidlmayer. His seven wins this season were third-best on the staff, behind Michael Ekstrom's team-leading nine and Clayton Hamilton's eight.
The Wizards current roster stands at 24 active players with third baseman Brett Dowdy on the disabled list.
