Lugnuts open second half by losing Yates, Acey and gaining Timm

LANSING - The Toronto Blue Jays have announced today that right handed pitcher Kyle Yates has been promoted to Dunedin of the Florida State League and also that infielder Jermy Acey has been activated from the disabled list and has been transferred to Auburn of the New York-Penn League. Joining the club today to take Yates' slot on the roster is left handed pitcher Jordan Timm.

Acey departs Lansing after never playing a game with the club and joins the Doubledays after spending all of his roster time with the Lugnuts on the disabled list. Yates, the 22-year-old righty from Kerrville, Texas departs to Dunedin after sporting a 4-3 mark with a 4.43 ERA in 14 games for the Lugnuts. In 81.1 IP, Yates fanned 81 hitters and had struck out 28 hitters in his last three starts, a span of 19.0 innings. Of his 14 starts, nine were classified as quality starts.

Timm, a 24-year-old lefthander from Pine River, Wisconsin joins the club today for the start of its second half series in West Michigan. A 14th round pick in 2004 out of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Timm has split time between Dunedin and Auburn in 2005. In one appearance with Dunedin, Timm worked 1.2 innings and allowed three runs. In one appearance with Auburn on June 21st, Timm took the loss as he allowed three runs in four innings. In 2004, the lefty went 0-0 with a 1.42 ERA in two outings for Auburn and 3-1 in 11 starts with a 2.67 ERA for Pulaski.

The current roster moves place Lansing's active roster at 25 players for the start of the second half.
