
Season-High 18 Hits Pace WooSox Past Tides

NORFOLK, VA - The Worcester Red Sox (47-42) set a new season high with 18 hits as they topped the Norfolk Tides (43-46) at Harbor Park on Saturday night by a 6-3 final.
Every batter in the WooSox order had at least one hit. Devlin Granberg and Nick Sogard each recorded their first three-hit games in Triple-A. Ronaldo Hernandez, Christin Stewart, Deivy Grullon, Grant Williams, and Johan Mieses also had multi-hit performances.
Worcester grabbed an early lead on a run-scoring single from Nick Sogard in the second inning.
Jacob Nottingham tied the game for Norfolk with a single in the bottom of the second that plated Kelvin Gutierrez.
In the third inning, the WooSox regained the lead thanks to an RBI single from Pedro Castellanos. Castellanos now has a six-game hitting streak, during which he is 8-for-23.
Another run crossed the plate for Worcester in the fourth on a wild pitch to make it a 3-1 game.
Ronaldo Hernandez hit a two-run, opposite-field home run in the fifth inning to stretch the lead to 5-1.
The Tides responded with a run in the bottom half of the fifth on Terrin Vavra's RBI double.
Williams singled home a run for Worcester in the ninth inning to make it a 6-2 game.
Anthony Benboom homered off Zack Kelly in the ninth inning to cut the deficit to 6-3, which ended up being the final score.
In his return to Triple-A, Brayan Bello tossed three innings, allowing a run three hits. Bello walked one and struck out four.
Over the final six innings, Caleb Simpson, Phillips Valdez, Eduardo Bazardo, and Zack Kelly combined to allow only two runs on two hits.
The WooSox wrap up their six-game series with the Tides tomorrow at 4:05 p.m. at Harbor Park. Radio coverage begins at 3:45 p.m. on 98.9 Nash Icon and throughout the WooSox Radio Network.
