LA ULTIMA VEZ

MOOSIC, PA (July 15, 2022) - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (43-45) blanked the Louisville Bats 9-0 on Friday evening. Domingo Germán pitched six shutout innings in the second start of his rehab assignment with the RailRiders.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre took the game's first lead in the third. After Phillip Evans and Rob Brantly started the frame with back-to-back singles, three straight two-out walks of Oswaldo Cabrera, Jake Bauers and Josh Breaux gave the RailRiders a 3-0 advantage. Evans and Brantly combined to go 4-for-6 with two walks and four runs scored out of the seven and eight spots in the lineup.Meanwhile, Germán cruised through the fifth appearance of his Minor League rehab assignment. The 29-year-old right-hander logged six scoreless innings with one strikeout on just 65 pitches. In total, Germán has allowed one run over 20.1 frames (0.44 ERA) across those five games as he works back from a right shoulder injury. The RailRiders then padded their lead with a five-spot in the sixth. Evans and Brantly got things going once again with a walk and single, respectively. Then another two-out rally ensued. Estevan Florial and Tim Locastro each delivered RBI singles to make it 5-0. That was followed by a three-run home run from Oswaldo Cabera to break the game open at 8-0. Cabrera has two home runs and six RBI in three games in this series.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored one more in the eighth while José Mujica and Jimmy Cordero combined to pitch three scoreless innings out of the RailRiders' bullpen in the 9-0 final. Germán (1-0) earned his first win for SWB this season. TJ Zeuch (0-5) suffered the loss for Louisville.

NOTICIAS Y NOTAS

FIRST THINGS FIRST - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders welcome the Louisville bats for their first trip to PNC Field since July 19-21, 2019 (Louisville won series 2-1). The Bats are just the second western division team the RailRiders have faced this year, the other being the Toledo Mud Hens (split series 3-3 in Ohio).

FIVE HUNDO - With a 43-45 record entering play on Saturday, the RailRiders would need to win the final two games of this series against Louisville to end the proverbial first half with a .500 record. SWB had fallen as far as a season-worst seventeen games under .500 at 19-36 on June 8, putting them 15.5 games back of first while holding last place in the IL East. The RailRiders can be no worse than four games under by the July 18 All-Star break. The team has not been .500 since they were 4-4 on April 14.

SHUT 'EM OUT, SHUT 'EM DOWN - The RailRiders won 9-0 on Saturday. It was their eighth shutout victory of their season and matched their biggest victory by run differential, nine (four times). In their three wins in this series this week, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is outscoring Louisville 26-3 and hold a 1.00 ERA in those games.

HOME COOKIN' - Entering Saturday, the RailRiders have won 13 of their last 16 home games dating back to June 14.

He will join the RailRiders soon. Wade, who was drafted and developed by New York, has played 255 games with the RailRiders from 2017 to 2019 where he hit .281 with 15 home runs and 96 RBI.

BUY ONE, GET ONE - The RailRiders hit back-to-back homers on Tuesday thanks to Josh Breaux and Jake Bauers. It was the first time this season any RailRider batters were able to complete the feat. The last time the RailRiders hit back-to-back homers was from Donny Sands and Armando Alvarez on July 20, 2021 against Rochester.
