
Sanchez leads IronPigs to shutout win over Knights

Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Charlotte, N.C.) - Ricardo Sanchez (4-3) led the way for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (48-41) on Saturday afternoon as he pitched seven shutout innings in a 6-0 win over the Charlotte Knights (33-56). Sanchez gave up just five hits and struck out six batters without issuing a walk. It's the third shutout win of the season for the IronPigs.
Donny Sands blasted a home run in the top of the fourth inning to give Lehigh Valley a 1-0 lead against Steven Moyers (1-1). Chris Sharpe then hit an RBI double to score Josh Ockimey and give the 'Pigs a 2-0 lead.
Will Toffey hit a two-run home run against Moyers in the top of the fifth inning to give the IronPigs a 4-0 lead. Scott Kingery scored on the home run, Toffey's fourth of the season. Ockimey followed with his first home run as an IronPig in the top of the sixth inning - a solo shot against J.B. Olson to give Lehigh Valley a 5-0 lead.
Ockimey provided another run - a RBI single against Parker Markel in the top of the seventh inning that scored Toffey and extended Lehigh Valley's lead to 6-0.
The game paused for a one hour and four-minute rain delay. Once the game resumed, Michael Kelly pitched two scoreless innings to close out the game for Lehigh Valley.
The IronPigs and Charlotte Knights finish their series on Sunday evening at Truist Field. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
