
Bulls Stumble in Game Five against Gwinnett

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Durham Bulls (47-42) fell to the Gwinnett Stripers (44-45) 7-2 on Saturday night at Coolray Field in game five of the six-game set.
Durham got on the board first, as RF Ruben Cardenas went yard on a solo shot in the second for his fourth homer of the season. Gwinnett would even the score in the third as RF Greyson Jenista rounded the bases on a solo shot of his own.
In the fourth, Bulls C Rene Pinto tattooed an RBI double to put Durham back ahead at 2-1, however the Stripers in the fifth would erupt for a four-run inning. CF Delino DeShields knotted the score at two with a bunt RBI before SS Hernan Perez and DH Mike Ford recorded RBI singles. 2B Braden Shewmake later rounded out the inning with a sacrifice fly to extend the Gwinnett lead to 5-2 beforehe Stripers added two more scores in the sixth on LF Preston Tucker's two-run double.
Gwinnett pitcher Tucker Davidson earned the win after five innings of work, allowing two runs on two hits, while ringing up six strikeouts. Durham pitcher Jayden Murray picked up the loss in his Triple-A debut, though he threw an immaculate inning in the second frame, striking out the side on nine pitchers.
The two teams are set to complete their series on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05pm. RHP Nolan Kingham is anticipated to get the nod for Gwinnett, while Durham's starter has yet to be announced.
The Bulls return to the DBAP on Friday, July 22 to begin a nine-game homestand hosting the Norfolk Tides and Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Their series opener versus Norfolk is set for 6:35pm.
