Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release

SCRAPPERS (28-33) vs. DOUBLEDAYS (27-34)

Two Strikes, Two Outs: Connor Marabell hit a three-run triple to the right field corner to break a scoreless tie in the top of the ninth. Marabell is 4-8 with a triple and home run, and four RBI's in the series against the Doubledays.

Robinson Shines Again: Righty Jared Robinson pitched another scoreless outing on Tuesday night. Robinson pitched into the sixth inning in his fourth consecutive start. He has now pitched 24.2 scoreless innings. Robinson has only struck out three batters in his last 11 innings.

Mathias Back In: Mark Mathias is batting fourth and playing second base tonight against the Doubledays. Mathias missed the first two games of this series after being hit by a pitch on Sunday against West Virginia. Mathias is 1-for-9 this season against the Doubledays.

Lovey's Turn: Righty Kieran Lovegrove went five innings in his last start against West Virginia. Lovegrove allowed four hits, and struck out four in his five scoreless innings. Lovegrove is 1-1 with a 6.85 ERA on the road this season. Look for Lovegrove to continue to work on the command of his fastball and pitch location. He only walked one in his five innings against the Black Bears. Lovey has posted an 0-2 record and a 3.86 ERA in the month of August.

Rubber Game: The Scrappers took yesterday's game 3-0, after the Doubledays won Monday's game 5-2. Mahoning Valley is 2-3 against the Doubledays, and hope to get to lefty Grant Borne, who has given up 12 runs (9 earned) in his last 13.2 innings pitched.

Grant Borne: Borne makes his fourth start of the season, but this is his 13th appearance of the season. Watch for him in the third inning -- here are the numbers: 4 IP, 14 H, 11 R, 8 ER, 3 K. Opponents hit .406 against him with runners on and two outs.
