Louisville Bats News Release

St. Paul, Minn. - Jay Schuyler hit his career Triple-A home run and Riley O'Brien tossed 6.0 solid innings to power the Louisville Bats past the St. Paul Saints 4-3 at CHS Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Bats scored first for the fifth game of the series as Alejo Lopez led off the game with a single into center field and came plateward on a pair of knocks from Max Schrock and Nick Senzel.

In the top of the fourth, Schuyler launched his first home run in only his third plate appearance with the team, a three-run bomb to left field to put the Bats on top of the Saints 4-0 with what proved to be the game-winning hit.

Bats starter Riley O'Brien kept the Saints at bay, turning in a fourth straight quality start from Louisville starting pitchers. The right-hander scattered four hits with two runs and five strikeouts to earn his sixth win of the season.

St. Paul scratched two runs across in the bottom of the fourth, the second of which was scored on a double that kicked up into the stands to leave a potential additional runner stranded at third base.

Ben Rortvedt pulled the Saints within one on a single in the eighth, but it wouldn't be enough as Tony Santillan shut the door on a comeback in a one-two-three ninth to earn his second save on the season.

Following today's game, the Bats enjoy a day off before returning home to start a 12-game homestand against the Nashville Sounds and Gwinnett Stripers. Top prospect Nick Lodolo (0-1, 10.13) will make his first Triple-A home start Tuesday against Sounds LHP Andy Otero (0-0, 6.97) with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. from Louisville Slugger Field.
