Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
LAKEWOOD, NJ - Max Schrock had five hits and Victor Robles scored four times as Hagerstown topped the BlueClaws 12-6 on Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Park.
The Suns, who are now 9-4, have won all five meetings with the BlueClaws, who fell to 2-11, so far this year. They swept a three-game series last week and have taken the first two of this three-game series.
Schrock became the eighth player with five hits in a game against Lakewood while Robles became the fifth player ever to score four runs in a game against the BlueClaws.
The Suns jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, scoring twice in the first on a two-run double by Ryan Ripken, and twice in the second on a two-run double by Max Schrock. Both hits came with two outs off BlueClaws starter Franklyn Kilome.
After Lakewood scored three times in the third, the Suns added three runs in the fourth, two on a single by Schrock. Kilome came out after three innings plus four batters, allowing eight runs, five of which were earned.
The BlueClaws crept back in the game, cutting the Suns lead to 9-5, but left the bases loaded in the sixth. They added another run in the seventh on Cornelius Randolph's first home run of the season.
Hagerstown added three runs off Kenny Koplove in the eighth for the final margin.
Cornelius Randolph had four hits in the loss for the BlueClaws, including his first home run. Brendan Hayden was 3-5 and Jan Hernandez was 2-4 in defeat.
The series concludes on Wednesday night at 6:35. LHP Tyler Gilbert (0-1) starts for Lakewood against RHP Jefry Rodriguez (1-1).
