Saturday's Curve Game At Erie Suspended

July 12, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Altoona Curve News Release

ERIE - The second game of the Altoona Curve's four-game, pre-All-Star Break road series against the Erie SeaWolves (AA/Tigers) was suspended due to inclement weather Saturday evening at Jerry Uht Park in Erie. The game was halted with Erie leading, 5-4, in the bottom of the third inning.

The game will be resumed as part of a doubleheader Sunday afternoon at the regularly scheduled time of 1:05 p.m. Saturday's suspended contest will be played to a nine-inning completion with the regularly scheduled game to be played to a seven-inning final.

Altoona had built an early 4-0 lead against the SeaWolves, but Erie scored five unanswered runs against Curve starter Luis Munoz, who was optioned from Pittsburgh earlier in the day. Munoz, who was touched up for five runs and eight hits in 2 2/3 innings, was sent down from the major leagues to make room for Yoslan Herrera, who started for the Pirates Saturday against St. Louis at PNC Park.

Among the early highlights in Saturday's game was a second-inning single by Curve first baseman Jason Delaney, which extended his hitting streak to 14 consecutive games.

Josh Hill (4-11, 4.99) will start Sunday's second game for Altoona against Erie left-hander Luke French (5-9, 4.67). Fans can listen to all the action beginning at 12:50 p.m. on the Curve Radio Network and on-line at AltoonaCurve.com.
