
Brandon Magee, Fisher Cats, win 4-3 at Connecticut

Norwich, CT- Travis Snider hit a three-run home run in the top of the third inning to give the Fisher Cats the lead and New Hampshire held on for a 4-3 win Saturday night before 3,198 at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT.
Brandon Magee (2-11) picked up his second win of the season, working into the seventh inning. He allowed three runs on six hits in 6.2 IP, walking three and striking out one.
Connecticut (48-47) scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Magee walked Kyle Haines and Antoan Richardson (2-for-4, RBI) to start the inning. Haines advanced to third base on a Ben Copeland fly out and scored on a groundout by Eddy Martinez-Esteve.
New Hampshire (36-58) took the lead for good in the top of the third inning. Andrew Pinckney singled, Ryan Klosterman (2-for-3, RBI, 2 2B, BB) doubled, and Snider hit a three-run homer off losing pitcher Joey Martinez (6-7) to put the Fisher Cats up 3-1.
The Fisher Cats added a run in the top of the fourth inning. After Jacob Butler and Pinckney walked, Klosterman again doubled, scoring Butler. The Defenders cut into the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ryan Rohlinger singled and scored on a double by Olmo Rosario. Richardson doubled home Rosario to make it 4-3, ending Magee's outing. After Daryl Harang walked Copeland, Jean Machi got Eddy Martinez-Esteve to line out to Andrew Pinckney. Machi also pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
Zach Dials worked around a Richardson single in the last of the ninth inning to earn his 13th save and give his club its first win in ten tries this season in Norwich.
The four-game series continues Sunday afternoon at Dodd Stadium against the Connecticut Defenders. LHP Ricky Romero (4-5, 5.89) starts for New Hampshire against Connecticut LHP Ben Snyder (1-1, 5.65). Radio coverage with Bob Lipman begins at 12:45pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
The 2008 Northeast Delta Dental Eastern League All-Star Game takes place at Merchantsauto.com Stadium on Wednesday, July 16 at 7:05pm. Gates open at 3:00pm.
