San Antonio Rampage News Release
Rampage Update: With five games in six days, the Rampage went 2-3-0-0 in this week's play. Game one of the week happened on Tuesday against Cincinnati at home. Lee Goren opened the scoring on a power play with 3:08 left in the first period and gave the Rampage a 2-0 lead with 2:52 remaining in the second. Travis Scott finished with 31 saves in the 3-2 loss. In Chicago on Wednesday, Goren ended a shutout bid 8:01 into the third period for the Rampage, which logged its sixth loss in a row with a final 4-1 fall to the Wolves. On Friday, San Antonio took the first of two consecutive wins against Utah as Josh Olson and Paul Healey each recorded two goals and one assist to lead the team to a 5-2 victory. Scott made 33 saves, turning aside 26 over the final two periods to earn the win. The second win against the Grizzlies took place on Saturday as Ryan Jardine and Olson scored in the first period and Goren tallied in the third for the Rampage, advancing Utah to take sixth place in the West Division. Sunday's rematch against the Wolves remained scoreless for San Antonio until third period goals by Michel Periard and Goren, who has a five-game scoring streak, averted a shutout, 4-2.
The fight for the final West Division playoff spots continues as the Rampage will play five games in six nights beginning tomorrow night in Milwaukee. San Antonio trails Cincinnati (28-36-12-1) by five points for the fifth and final playoff slot with two games in hand.
Florida Panthers Update: The Florida Panthers erased a 4-0 deficit with six consecutive goals but the Carolina Hurricanes fought back to tie the game 6-6 in the wildest game of the year in Sunday's season finale at the Office Depot Center. Donald Audette had two goals and two assists, tying a career high with four points in the game. Christian Berglund also notched two goals for the Panthers, who closed the season with just one win in their last nine games (1-6-1-1). Mikael Samuelsson and Kamil Piros also tallied for Florida (28-35-15-4), while Roberto Luongo had an off-night, stopping just 26 of the 32 shots he faced...The Panthers reassigned Piros and Vaclav Nedorost to San Antonio.
