April 5, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Adirondack Phantoms News Release
(PHILADELPHIA, April 5, 2004) - Philadelphia Phantoms right wing Kirby Law today was named the Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week for the period ending April 4. In four games last week, Law scored five goals and had a plus-six rating to help the Phantoms go 3-0-0-1 and maintain the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
Law began the week by scoring the first two goals in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Norfolk. He then scored twice more in Friday's 4-1 triumph over Hershey to record his sixth multi-goal game and 18th multi-point game of the season, which are both team highs.
After being held scoreless with a plus-1 rating in Saturday's 4-1 victory in Wilkes-Barre, Law opened the scoring in Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss to Binghamton.
In recognition of his achievement, Law will receive a Sher-Wood leather jacket, presented to him during an upcoming on-ice ceremony. In addition, Sher-Wood will donate five travel bags to the Special Olympics of Philadelphia in Law's name.
A 2004 AHL All-Star, Law leads the team in points (71) and goals (30). He ranks fifth in the league in points, eighth in assists (41), tied for sixth in goals, tied for 13th in shots (219) and tied for 14th in power-play goals (9).
The 27-year-old is the second Phantom to win the AHL Player of the Week award this season, joining goaltender Antero Niittymaki, who earned the honor for the period ending Nov. 16. Law is also the 10th AHL Player of the Week honoree in club history.
The Phantoms conclude the regular season this weekend with games in Albany, Bridgeport and Hershey, respectively.
