Roadrunners' Magic Number Stands at One Point
April 5, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Edmonton Road Runners News Release
The Toronto Roadrunners' magic number to clinch a berth in the 2004 Calder Cup playoffs is one point. Any point won by Toronto or lost by St. John's gives the Roadrunners a playoff berth in their inaugural season.
The Roadrunners can secure a playoff berth by earning a win, tie or overtime loss in their final regular season home game on Wednesday, April 7, when the Rochester Americans visit the Ricoh Coliseum (7:00 p.m.). The Roadrunners then travel to St. John's to face the Baby Leafs in their final two games of the regular season (Friday, April 9 at 6:05 p.m., and Saturday, April 10 at 6:05 p.m.).
Largest Margin Victory, Defeat both against Griffins
The Roadrunners' largest margin of victory and defeat both occurred in games played against the Grand Rapids Griffins. The Roadrunners defeated the Griffins 6-0 on March 17 in Grand Rapids, and then were defeated by the very same score on April 4 in Toronto.
Rita plays 200th career AHL Game
Forward Jani Rita played in his 200th career regular season AHL game on Wednesday, April 1, when the Toronto Roadrunners were edged 2-1 by the St. John's Maple Leafs.
