Rycroft comes to Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the United Hockey League and 2005-06 Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup Champions, announce the completion of a trade with the Quad City Mallards. Kalamazoo will acquire forward Jesse Rycroft (rye-croft). In return Quad City will receive forward David Herring (HAIR-ing).

In his second full season of professional hockey, Rycroft is a hard-nose forward that can handle the puck. Last season with Quad City, Rycroft tallied 19 points (9 goals, 10 assists) in 72 games.

"Rycroft has the size and ability to be a productive power forward in this league," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "We (K-Wings) feel Jesse fits in to our concept and will continue to strengthen our team."

The native of Scarborough, Ontario, put up 4 points in 14 games with the Mallards. Prior to turning pro, Rycroft played four years of collegiate hockey at the University of Toronto (CIS).

Fans will have the chance to see Rycroft make his K-Wings debut this Friday (12/8) at 7:30 p.m. versus the Bloomington PrairieThunder. Kalamazoo will also be home this Saturday (12/9) for a 7:30 p.m. face-off against the Flint Generals. Saturday's game coincides with "Cup Craze", as the Stanley Cup, Turner Cup, Colonial Cup and Tarry Cup will be displayed in the Cube Viewing Area starting at 1 p.m. Fans who have tickets to the K-Wings-Generals game can view the cups for FREE, while individuals coming only to see the cups will have to pay an admission fee of $10.

Tickets for this weekend's contest and all K-Wing home games are available at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office during their regular business hours of Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. or Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fans can purchase their tickets by calling the (269) 345-5101 or logging onto www.ticketmaster.com.
