Fury sweep UHL November awards

December 4, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

MUSKEGON, MI.--- Riding the rising tidal wave of their best start ever in the rich, storied and winning history of their franchise, the Eastern Division and overall league-leading Muskegon Fury have announced, in conjunction with the United Hockey League, a complete sweep of the three major league monthly awards for the recently concluded month of November 2006.

On this date, the Fury organization and its player personnel are reaping the benefits of their extraordinary 22(19-3-0) inception to this season as center TODD ROBINSON has been acclaimed the SHER-WOOD / UHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH; center ELIAS GODOY has been heralded the EASTON / UHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH and CLAYTON POOL has been anointed SOUTHERN SPORTS SUPPLY / UHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH. This is the second consecutive month that both Robinson and Godoy have been honored in their same respective categories as both captured the identical accolades in the season's opening month of October.

The 28-year-old, 8-year pro Robinson has been remarkably magnificent thus far through the first quarter of the campaign. In November, the UHL's top, leading scorer averaged almost 2-points each game, amassing a total of 24-points in 13-games on 11-goals, 13-assists, along with 61-SOG and superb +8 rating. Included in his body of work numerology were 7-multiple point games, two 3-goal "hat tricks," and team-highs of 4-PPG, 7-PPA and 4-SHG. "T. Rob" also led his torrid first place team in total goals and total points while experiencing only one minus game for the entire month. For the season, he has built a rather sizeable 11-points' advantage, ironically over teammate Godoy, in averaging slightly over 2-points each game as the UHL's premiere point-producer. In 22-games, the Trail, B.C. native has engineered 45-points on 18-goals, 27-assists. Robinson has been dominant in most major league-wide offensive categories. He leads the UHL in goals, assists, PPA (14), SOG (98), GWG (5), SHG (5), while ranking runner-up in PPG (7) and ranking third with a stellar rating of +19. Robinson has also one UHL Player of the Week award.

In staking claim to his second successive Rookie of the Month plaudits, Godoy, 25, was the Fury's second top scoring mogul for the month with 22-points in 12-games on 6-goals and a team-best 16-assists. His November productivity included a team-high 3-FG, an 11-game point streak and 6-multiple point games. His +11 rating tied him for second best on the club as the former standout from the U. Mass-Lowell only had one minus game for the entire month of play. For the season, despite a recently incurred injury, the W. Vancouver, B.C. native still maintains a commanding 16-points' advantage as the UHL's top scoring rookie with 34-points in 19-games on 11-goals and 23-assists, along with 4-PPG, a rookie league-best 9-PPA and 1-GWG. Ranked second in the overall league scoring chase, Godoy has achieved the best point-scoring streak in the UHL at this stage of the season; 12-games, totaling 25-points. His +16 rating ranks second among all rookies, with only linemate Evan Kotsopoulos (+20) superior, and fifth best for the whole loop. Godoy has become the most decorated player in the league this season as he is the only performer to land two UHL Player of the Week Awards in addition to his second consecutive Rookie of the Month laurels.

While Robinson and Godoy are basking in the afterglow of league-wide, center stage encores and kudos, Pool, a previous Goaltender of the Week recipient, has earned the spotlight for the first time this campaign in the monthly category. The 28-year-old, 3-year pro from Abbotsford, B.C. enjoyed an exemplary month of goal patrol for his Fury team. In 9-games, Pool posted a scintillating 9(8-1-0) mark, 1-shutout, a brilliant 1.67 GAA and .943 SPCT. During November, the record-breaking, history-making star from the U. of Alberta established a new Fury club record when he won 11-consecutive decisions, shattering the previous standard of 9-consecutive wins shared by predecessors Sylvain Daigle and Joe Dimaline.

In his 9-starts for the eleventh month of this calendar year, Pool grudgingly surrendered more than 2-GA on just one occasion. His lone setback for the month came in minuscule one-goal fashion on Thanksgiving night when the Fury were edged by visiting Flint, 3-2.

Pool has dominated all of the major departments attached to the seal of good goalkeeping since the inception of this season. Currently, he leads the UHL in victories (13); GAA (2.00) and SPCT (.932). He ranks second in MIN (898).

He remains as the lone undefeated UHL goaltender on the road, having authored a lustrous 8(8-0-0) record with a miserly 1.89 GAA. Pool has accounted for 8 of the Fury's league-high 10-road wins thus far this season.

In his last 10-starts, he has permitted a meager 18-GA for a GAA of 1.80.

For his Fury career, Pool has attained the best winning percentage ever in team annals, having compiled a career record of 60-18-8 for a win percentage of .744. His 60-victories rank third all-time on the Fury list.
