
David Herring Joins Mallards

Moline, IL-The Quad Mallards announced today that the team has acquired right wing David Herring from the Kalamazoo Wings in exchange for forward Jesse Rycroft. Herring joins the Mallards after playing 17 games with the Wings this year. The 6-foot-1, 205 pound forward has four points (all goals) this year.
Herring played his first pro season with the United Hockey League's Elmira Jackals and Motor City Mechanics in 2005-06. In 12 games with Elmira, he recorded six points on three goals and three assists with 25 penalty minutes. Herring appeared in 55 games for the Motor City Mechanics. He recorded 26 points (nine goals and seventeen assists) with 145 penalty minutes for the Mechancis.
Herring made his pro debut with the 2004-05 Greenville Grrrowl (ECHL) after completing his amateur career with the Ontario Hockey League's Erie Otters. In a three-game spring audition for the Grrrowl, Herring recorded two points on a goal and an assist. He appeared in seven post-season games for Greenville and recorded six points (four goals and two assists).
During his amateur career, the Murray River, Prince Edward Island native played 216 games for the Erie Otters (OHL). He recorded 22 goals with 35 assists for 57 points with 620 penalty minutes. He lead the Otters in penalty minutes in 2002-03 (216 penalty minutes)and 2004-05 (147 penalty minutes)
Rycroft leaves the Quad Cities after playing his first 86 professional games with the Mallards. He recorded four points (two goals and two assists) in 14 games this year. As a rookie in 2005-06, he played 72 games and netted nine goals with ten assists for 19 points.
The Mallards begin a four-game road trip on Friday night in Chicago. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show begins at 7:05 p.m. on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230.
