Mallards Season Ends with Opening Round Loss to Hogs

Moline, IL- The Mallards 2007 playoff run ended on Sunday afternoon with an 8-4 loss to Rockford at The Metrocentre. The IceHogs victory in Game Five capped the best-of-seven series. Sergei Durdin led the Mallards in post-season scoring with seven points on a goal and six assists. Chad Woollard led the Mallards in post-season goals with three.

Season tickets for the 2007-08 season are on sale now and are available via the Mallards ticket office at (309) 764-7825. Lower bowl seats are just $380 for the season while tickets in the upper bowl are just $266. Youth tickets are available for any seat at The MARK for $190.

The final 2007-08 edition of the Mallards weekly coach's show, Duck Talk, will air tonight beginning at 6 p.m. from the Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge. Duck Talk can also be heard on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230.

Game Three of the 2007 Colonial Cup Western Conference Semifinal

Wednesday, April 18th - Rockford 1 at Quad City 3

The Mallards scored a 3-1 win on Wednesday night at The MARK. Mallards netminder Jason Tapp stopped 38 shots in the game to earn first star honors. With the win, the team is now down two games to one in the 2007 Western Conference Semifinal with Rockford. The Mallards have a chance to even the series on Friday night as Game Four is played at The MARK. With 57 seconds left in the opening period, Sean Starke scored to give Quad City their first lead of the series. The power-play marker was Starke's second goal in as many games following his second period power-play tally in Game Two. In the second, Chad Woollard netted his first goal of the post-season to extend the Mallards lead to 2-0. Sergei Durdin earned the lone assist on the tally to drive his team-leading point total to four (all assists). Just 26 seconds into the third period, the Mallards opened up a 3-0 edge on Matt Radoslovich's first goal of the post-season. Rockford broke up Jason Tapp's bid for a shutout with 7:07 remaining when Nicolas Corbeil scored. Tapp went on to stop 12 shots in the period for a total for 38 saves in the game.

Friday, April 20th - Rockford 3 at Quad City 1

The Hogs recorded a 3-1 win on Friday at The MARK to gain a 3-1 edge in their opening round series with the Mallards. Kevin Ulanski earned first star honors after recording a goal and an assist in the win. After a scoreless first period, the Hogs scored twice on a set of power-plays early in the second to take control of the game. Nicolas Corbeil netted his second goal of the series on a 5-on-3 Hogs power play at 3:16 of the period. It was the first Hogs power-play tally in the series. Rockford added their second power-play marker of the period 1:18 later to open up a 2-0 edge. Benoit Doucet netted the marker, the first of his pro career. Kevin Ulanski capped the period with an even strength goal at 15:28 of the second to give the Hogs a 3-0 lead after two periods. In the third, Chad Woollard netted the Mallards lone goal of the night. It was Woollard's second goal in as many games and ignited a Mallards rally. The team outshot Rockford 10-8 in the third, but could not beat Frederic Cloutier again as the Hog netminder earned his third win of the series.

Game Five of the 2007 Colonial Cup Western Conference Semifinal

Sunday, April 22nd - Quad City 4 at Rockford 8

The Mallards 2007 post-season run ended on Sunday in Rockford as the Hogs won Game Five by a final of 8-4. The Hogs will advance to face Fort Wayne in the Western Conference Final. In the opening period, the Hogs took a 3-0 lead on goals by Jason Notermann, Nicolas Corbeil and Paul Brown. The Hogs dominated play in the opening frame outshooting the Mallards by a margin of 17-3. The Hogs continued to roll early in the second period as Luke Fritshaw, Nicolas Corbeil and Benoit Doucet scored to open up a 6-0 edge. The Mallards battled back to close the score to 6-2 after two periods following a shorthanded goal by Sergei Durdin and an even strength tally by Matt Radoslovich. In the third, a pair of Hogs goals killed hopes of a Mallards comeback. Preston Mizzi netted his fourth goal of the series followed by a Matt Gens marker to close out the Hogs scoring. Don Parsons and Chad Woollard added late Mallards markers to set the final at 8-4.
