
Komets To Face Hogs In Conference Finals

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets eliminated the Chicago Hounds in the first round of the playoffs taking the series 4-1 and will now face the Rockford IceHogs in a best-of-7 Western Conference finals series. Rockford won their first-round series against Quad City 4 games to 1 to advance to the second round. The Fort Wayne/Rockford series is slated to get underway with game 1 Friday, April 27 at 8pm on Fort Wayne ice. Game 2 will be played in Fort Wayne Sunday, April 29 at 6pm. Games 3 and 4 will be played on Rockford ice with game 3 Wednesday, May 2, at 8:30pm Fort Wayne time and game 4 Friday, May 4, at 8:30pm Fort Wayne time. The series will follow a 2-2-1-1-1 format. Tickets for games 1 and 2 of the series against Rockford are on sale at the Coliseum ticket office and online at www.ticketmaster.com.
Note: Games 1 and 2 of the Komets/Rockford series will be Komet home playoff ticket numbers 3 and 4 for fans with tickets.
It will be the third time in as many playoff seasons the Komets have faced the IceHogs in post-season play. The Komets eliminated Rockford 4 games to 3 in the second round of the 2005 playoffs. Last season Rockford eliminated Fort Wayne 4 games to 1 in the first round.
The Komets skated against Rockford 9 games during the 2006-07 regular season taking the series 6-3-0 after winning the last 2 meetings of the regular season.
Playoff leaders.....center J.C. Ruid leads the Komets in post-season play with 7 points. Ruid and defenseman Guy Dupuis lead with 5 assists each while center Terry Marchant tops the K's with 4 goals in the 5 playoff games played. Komet netminder Kevin St. Pierre leads UHL goaltenders in post-season action with a 1.63 goals against average going into the second round. The Komets have the best UHL playoff power play with a 26.5% conversion rate scoring 9 power play tallies in 34 chances. Rockford is led by center Preston Mizzi with a league-leading 6 assists and UHL post-season high 10 points in 5 playoff games. Center Nicolas Corbeil leads the Hogs with 5 goals. Rockford's Frederic Cloutier has a UHL third-best 1.92 goals-against average and ranks second with a .936 save percentage after appearing in all 5 IceHogs playoff games to date. Fort Wayne leads all of minor league hockey in playoff attendance with a per-game average of 7,366 fans after 2 playoff home games. Oklahoma City CHL is second at 7,289 after 5 home playoff games.
